Summary of the thirty-first meeting
The 31st Nordic Health Promotion Research Network meeting was held March 31th to April 1st 2022, at WHO, Copenhagen.
Day 1 Dr. Robb Butler, Executive Director, Regional Director’s Division, WHO Regional Office for Europe, gave a presentation on the topic “European Programme of Work and the priorities at WHO/Europe”. He also talked about the health topic “Behavioural and cultural insights for health” that the WHO Regional Office Europe, Copenhagen now is working with.
Thereafter Dr. Rudiger Krech, Director, Health Promotion, Division of Universal Health Coverage and Healthier Populations, WHO, Geneva, Switzerland gave a presentation on the topic “The contemporary health promotion from the WHO’s perspective”.
During the afternoon Assoc. Prof. Sami Kokko, University of Jyväskylä, Finland and also member of the network, gave a presentation on the topic of “Settings approach in health promotion”. After this presentation there was time for work in the working groups.
Day 2 Dr. Gerald Rockenschaub, Director of Regional Emergency, WHO/EURO, gave a brief information on WHO´s efforts in relation to the war and crisis in Ukraine, challenges, priorities and efforts on emergency, security, health care, disease prevention in Ukraine, and efforts for refugees outside Ukraine.
Time was also set aside for work in the working groups and the groups´ report about their ongoing work. The conference group informed that the conference theme for the 10th Nordic Health Promotion Research Conference,14–16 June 2023 at Halmstad University, Sweden, will be Sustainability and the impact on health and well-being. There will be three subthemes; Social sustainability in relation to equal health and justice, E-health and implementation of digital innovations for health promotions, and Sustainable health in physical activity/sport. Abstract submission opens on the 15th of August 2022, early bird registration closes 3rd of March 2023. The 1st flyer will soon come. Before closing the meeting themes/topics for the next workshops was discussed. Before closure of the meeting themes/topics for the next workshops were suggested.
Next meetings, the 32nd and 33rd will be held at WHO, Copenhagen November 24-25, 2022 and March 23-24, 2023.
